Enhancing humans is the key to excellence

AI will never excel because it is a software, built from algorithms, which are built from sets of rules.

So, you might ask, what is the problem? And the answer is that a set of rules, even when they include machine learning components, will always be an expansion of the basic set of rules and will not contain creation.

What is creation? Creation is making something new. Something that is not a direct expansion of something else.

Creativity is an ability preserved only to living creatures and as such, they are the only ones who can break through and create.

Machines should be limited to aid humans through enhancing their abilities and help them acquire data faster, present them with calculations and possibilities as fast and as clear as possible in order to allow them do the thinking to take complexed decisions.

Surely machines should take decisions, but only such that can be binaural decisions.

However, those decisions must be limited to ones that are simple and operational, like for example selecting a rout for a driver, breaking when an obstacle appears, stopping a production line when there is a potential breach and even driving a car or a forklift, but a machine shouldn’t take decisions that affect human feelings.

We always need to remember Maya Angelou’s quote – “I’ve learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel”

And this is why there are decisions that should never be made by machines. Because humans feel, and only another human can really, deeply understand this and act accordingly.
